Digital Meal Tracking
From the field. A snack served on the blacktop or a supper under the lunch shelter should be recorded just as accurately as a meal in the cafeteria. For some students, it’s the most important meal of their day. Recording each meal digitally as it’s served protects the funding that keeps it coming, and gives sites accurate counts to order closer to real need, so less food goes to waste.
47 snacks, 47 students.
Duplicate meal record prevented.
Signed daily record ready.
The pain
A meal count is not the same thing as a meal record.
Snack and supper service happens fast, wherever students are. Staff need to know who received what, catch duplicate servings, correct mistakes, and produce an accurate daily record for nutrition services and reimbursement. A tally sheet can’t do that, and inaccurate counts mean ordering too much or too little, so food is wasted or students go without.
How it works
Record each meal at the point of service.

- 01
Tap the student when the meal is served
Staff record snack and supper for each student from an iPad-friendly list of who’s checked in, wherever service happens.
- 02
Block duplicates across the district
The same student can’t be recorded twice for the same meal, even at different sites.
- 03
Correct mistakes without erasing history
Staff void and re-record an error instead of silently editing the original, so every change stays on record.
- 04
Generate the daily record
Create and keep a signed daily report for each site and date, ready for nutrition services and reimbursement.
- 05
Order closer to real need
Accurate daily counts by site help teams plan meal orders, so less food goes to waste.
Behind the build
Why a meal record beats a meal count.
-
The usual way: A paper tally sheet totaled at the end of the day.
How Attendly does it: Each meal is recorded per student, digitally, as it’s served.
-
The usual way: Duplicates caught later, if at all.
How Attendly does it: Duplicates are blocked across the district, even between sites.
-
The usual way: Corrections overwrite the original.
How Attendly does it: Mistakes are voided and re-recorded, so history stays intact.
-
The usual way: Daily reports rebuilt by hand for nutrition services.
How Attendly does it: A signed daily report is generated for each site and date.
-
The usual way: Meals ordered on estimates, and extra food is thrown away.
How Attendly does it: Accurate counts by site help teams order closer to real need.
